Please allow 24 hours notice to have new service established to your property. Service can be established on the weekends and holidays, but an after-hours fee will be charged and the customer will be required to come in by 9:00 a.m. on the next business day to complete the necessary paperwork, pay all charges, and a deposit if required.
It is the responsibility of the customer to notify the District to discontinue service. Unless turn-off service is ordered, the customer is liable for all continued water usage.
Deposits
A refundable deposit is required to establish a new account if you are a new customer or have had poor payment history with Hi-Desert Water District. Poor payment history is defined as three or more delinquent payments in a single year or a lock-off for non-pay within the last year. Deposits are refunded after one year of good payment history with no more than three delinquent payments and zero lock-offs.
The deposit requirement may be satisfied in three ways. A customer may elect to pay a non-refundable $10.00 fee for a credit check ($10.00 non-refundable fee for a credit check), have been a customer for over one year with good payment history, or pay the $250.00 refundable deposit. The credit check will score a customer green for good, yellow for moderate risk, and red for poor credit. No deposit is required for green, $150.00 is required for yellow and $250.00 is required for red. The following are the customer options.
-
$10.00 (non-refundable) Credit Check
-
$250.00 Refundable Deposit (no credit report requested)
-
HDWD Customer over one (1) year with good payment history. Defined as less than three delinquent payments and no lock-offs.
If the account is closed during the 12 month period, the security deposit is applied to the closing bill and/or the balance refunded to the customer.
