Groundwater Guardian Mission

"Educating and motivating people to care for and about groundwater."

Yucca Valley was officially designated as a Groundwater Guardian Community.  In order to become a member community Hi-Desert Water District must provide water education programs that satisfy the goal of the Groundwater Foundation. 

At the November 2008 Groundwater Foundation’s annual conference in Desert Hot Springs, Hi-Desert Water District was welcomed into the family of Groundwater Guardian Communities whose mission is “to educate and motivate people to care about groundwater.” Programs focus on the protection of water supplies from overuse, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, personal care products and other potential threats to water that many communities must address.  Hi-Desert Water District is a proud new member. This national designation is only awarded to communities that maintain a program that helps to accomplish the mission.
