1 Billion Gallons of Wastewater Treated
The Hi-Desert Water District proudly announces a major milestone in the success of its Centralized Wastewater Treatment Plant: over 1 billion gallons of wastewater have been treated since the facility began operations. This remarkable achievement marks a significant chapter in the Town of Yucca Valley’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable infrastructure.
The Centralized Wastewater Treatment Plant, which was completed as part of a historic initiative to protect the region’s groundwater and replace outdated septic systems, has been operating continuously since its launch. Under the expert leadership of Matt Mayo, Chief Plant Operator, the facility has exceeded expectations in both performance and maintenance.
“Treating over a billion gallons of wastewater is not just a number—it’s a testament to the dedication of our entire team and the value this facility brings to our community,” said Mayo. “Our staff has worked tirelessly, operating the plant 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring it remains one of the cleanest, most well-maintained facilities in the region.”
The plant plays a critical role in protecting the desert environment by reducing nitrate contamination and helping preserve the area’s limited water resources. Its state-of-the-art design and operations support high efficiency, reliability, and safety standards, making it a cornerstone of the District’s long-term sustainability efforts.
Hi-Desert Water District extends its gratitude to the entire operations team, local partners, and the Yucca Valley community for supporting this essential work. As the plant continues to serve the area for decades to come, the District remains committed to excellence in wastewater treatment and environmental protection.
