Phase 2 Sewer Project Update

The Phase 2 Sewer Project construction will begin the first week of August in the Country Club neighborhood.

Doorhangers and letters will be sent in advance.

Homeowners and residents may experience limited road closures, limited access and alternate routes. Properties in the active construction zone will have limited access during digging due to open trenches and heavy equipment.  A hotline and direct email will be available to residents to contact Sukut Construction during the construction activities.

For questions about the sewer project call (760) 365-8333, email info@hdwd.com or visit www.hdwd.com/phase2sewer. Sign up for project updates on our website.

Celebrating Mike Price: A Legacy of Dedication, Expertise, and Service

After 36 years of unwavering dedication to the water industry, Mike Price is closing the chapter on a remarkable career. From his early beginnings at Joshua Basin Water District in 1989 to his many years of service at Hi-Desert Water District starting in 2005, Mike has built a legacy of hard work, leadership, and commitment to community service.

A Career Rooted in Construction and Operations

Throughout his career, Mike specialized in construction and operations—a foundation that allowed him to make a lasting impact on the district and its customers. Upon joining Hi-Desert Water District, his first role was on the Capital Replacement Project crew, where he worked diligently to replace aging pipelines. He thrived in this role, embracing the opportunity to understand the intricacies of water systems, the science behind them, and their critical role in delivering safe, reliable water service.

Mike’s skills extended far beyond pipe replacement. His background in fence construction became a tremendous asset to the district, enabling in-house fencing projects that saved customers thousands of dollars. His ability to apply his personal expertise to district needs exemplifies his resourcefulness and dedication to cost-effective service.

Motivated by Stability and Gratitude

Mike often expressed gratitude for the opportunities the industry provided and the meaningful work that became a part of his daily life. As he steps into retirement, Mike reflects on his career with appreciation, knowing it allowed him to care for his loved ones while serving his community.

A Well-Earned Retirement and New Adventures

With retirement now upon him, Mike is looking forward to doing all the things he’s postponed over the years. High on his list are traveling, participating in softball tournaments, riding dirt bikes, camping, fishing, and enjoying off-road adventures. Most of all, he’s excited to experience these activities without the pressure of returning to work on Monday mornings.

He plans to embrace local attractions and savor life to the fullest, finally enjoying the freedom to do what he wants, when he wants.

Words of Wisdom for the Next Generation

As he bids farewell to his colleagues, Mike offers heartfelt advice:

“Work hard but be safe—watch out for yourself and others. Enjoy your work and don’t sweat the little things that will pass. Stay the course. This is a great career if you enjoy the work.”

His words carry the weight of experience, a reminder to appreciate every day on the job while keeping safety and teamwork at the forefront.

Honoring a Lifelong Legacy

Mike’s retirement marks the end of an era at Hi-Desert Water District, but his legacy will live on through the fences he built, the pipes he replaced, and the countless customers who benefit from his work. His career is a testament to the value of dedication, craftsmanship, and community-focused service.

Congratulations, Mike Price—enjoy every moment of your next adventure!
