SUMMER FUN WATER SAVING TIP

Water your plants with the leftover or melted ice from your ice chest.

JULY IS SMART IRRIGATION MONTH

Did you know as much as 50% of the water used outdoors is wasted from inefficient watering methods and systems?

Let's use water wisely - Adjust your watering times, upgrade to a smart irrigation controller, look for leaks, and use water efficient sprinklers.

Also, stop by the District's Admin Office and get a water efficient hose nozzle sprayer or soil moisture meter to assist with your watering conservation needs. Available in the front lobby while supplies last.

Sales Tax Helps Pay for Sewer Assessments

Measure Z is a local sales tax measure passed in 2016 to reduce the annual assessment district payment for property owners.  In 2022/23 the annual assessment was reduced by as much as 50% on the annual property tax bill. As a special measure, all Measure Z funds are only spent on reducing the costs paid by property owners. Measure Z equitably reduces the annual payments of Assessment District 2014-01.  Sales taxes are collected from local purchases which includes over 50% paid by visitors and neighboring community members that shop in Yucca Valley.  This additional revenue helps to reduce the financial burden on Yucca Valley residents.

NEW HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

We are excited to welcome Jeff Brady, a new addition to the Hi-Desert Water District Team.

Jeff is a native resident of Yucca Valley, moving here in sixth grade. He is someone who loves being involved and giving back to the community - coaching high school football; being a high school basketball ref; serving on the town of Yucca Valley's PRCC committee; being the past board president of the Boys and Girls Club; and even running for Town Council in 2020.

Jeff attended the University of Arkansas where he received his degree in Human Resources and is currently working on his Master's in public administration at Arizona State University.

Jeff has been married to his wife Schaeffer for eight years, they have five dogs and two cats. When Jeff isn't working or doing his other activities you can find him playing golf or playing pickleball, his new favorite pastime; travelling with his wife and dogs, their favorite spots are Cambria and Park City; and spending time with his family and friends. He is so excited to have joined the team at HDWD as he sees it as an opportunity to be even more involved with the community that he truly adores so much.

WATER QUALITY REPORT AVAILABLE NOW

Is the water served by Hi-Desert Water District clean and safe? Absolutely.

All drinking water we serve meets or exceeds government health and safety standards. Hi-Desert Water District performs hundreds of water tests each year for bacteria and other regulated contaminants. The results of that sampling are included in an annual water quality report, now available online at https://bit.ly/4bnCky0. For previous years reports and additional water quality information, visit Water Quality | Hi-Desert Water District, CA (hdwd.com).
